iD Tech | The Lindsey Vonn Foundation Scholarship Winners
Four-time World Cup champion skier Lindsey Vonn has a new passion: Bridging the gender gap in STEM and helping girls unlock the skills needed to pursue their dreams. Through her nonprofit, the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, she has provided over 20 scholarships to our innovative all-girls program, Alexa Café. “For us as a foundation, our mission is to empower young girls,” Lindsey explained. “Especially in roles or occupations that are generally male-dominated. That’s why iD Tech’s Alexa Café was a perfect partner for us.” For those of you who are new to Alexa Café, the program is specially designed to engage girls ages 10-15 in coding, game development, robotics, AI, 3D printing, and design. With a focus on entrepreneurship, leadership, and social impact, girls learn to make a difference with tech through projects they find truly meaningful. Lindsey Vonn's Virtual Career Day with Gymnast Shawn Johnson
Tune in every week to Lindsey Vonn's Virtual Career Day. Each week Lindsey will bring together a young Lindsey Vonn Foundation scholarship winner and an expert in the field they want to grow up to work in. During these challenging times, Lindsey wants to remind young kids that there is still something to look forward to and nothing should stop you from achieving your goals. This week's scholar wants to grow up to be a gymnast, so we brought in Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson to give her advice, stories, and encouragement. Hear about sports, training, mental mindset, family, dreams, and what it takes to follow your dreams. In addition to this series, we are excited to be supporting Club kids and families through the COVID-19 crisis. With the abrupt closure of schools, families in need are scrambling to find food programs and childcare for parents who must remain working on the front lines. We appreciate any support or donations to raise funds for Clubs kids. See more here: https://bit.ly/3cZeutO
