Scholarship Guidelines

The Lindsey Vonn Foundation (the "Foundation") provides future generations the tools they need to discover the grit within, pursue their passion, overcome obstacles, and reach their goals through scholarships, programs, and mentorship. A scholarship from the Foundation is a financial aid option to allow the next generation to pursue their passion in academic and enrichment activities to reach their goals. The scholarship is available to youth in middle and high school with a household income below $120,000 for a family of four. Below are the eligibility requirements:

  • Gender: All genders, with the core of scholarships going to girls
  • Age: 11 to 18 years of age at the time of application
  • Location: Nationally
  • Financial need based on household income, number of dependents, and location/cost of living
  • Students can receive only one scholarship per year, but can receive three scholarships in total during their period of eligibility

Scholarships from the Foundation will support academic and enrichment activities to help youth reach a goal. In their applications, applicants should showcase their ability to overcome obstacles, discover grit, and pursue a passion. Scholarship funds can be applied to enrichment activities of any kind, including camps, prep-classes, clubs, etc., that help children engage in their passion.

Scholarships will be awarded twice each year, in the Spring and Fall: winners must participate in an enrichment activity within six months of receipt of the scholarship. Applications will be due each February 28 and August 12. Applicants can re-apply once a year, but only receive the scholarship three times total from the age of 11 to 18. All applicants must fill out the online application on the Foundation’s website.

After initial application review, the Scholarship Committee may contact you for a phone or video chat panel interview.

All payments will be made directly to the organization facilitating the enrichment activity (camp, club, etc.) by May 15 or November 15, dependent on the application submission date. Applicants must provide the Foundation with an invoice with the exact, full amount of the enrichment activity – payments cannot be made to an individual person or for equipment and cannot reimburse a payment made by the scholarship winner or his/her family.

Scholarship recipients are required to send the Foundation a description of their experience, which may be used for Foundation marketing purposes (see the essay and photo release portion of the application). In the testimonial, winners should:

  • Describe why you requested the scholarship
  • Explain your experience over the Winter or Summer
  • Describe how the scholarship helped you reach your goals
  • Submit the testimony in written and/or video form to the Foundation’s scholarship administrator
  • If applicable, provide a sample of the work completed
